1JZ/2JZ CAMSHAFT TRIGGER KIT
248FAB Distributor Delete Camshaft Trigger
Coming soon!
The 248fab 2JZ Cam Trigger is designed for NONVVTI 1JZ/2JZ engines. It allows the consumer to use sc300 and gen1 gs300 engines without having to swap the head or drill the head for an oem cam sensor. These distributor motors lack an independent camshaft position sensor, this is where the 248fab trigger is essential.
Our cam sensor assembly replaces a distributor (which mechanically times spark) with a position sensor,( which electronically controls spark timing). It is recommended to have electronic spark control if you plan to turbocharge your 2J!
The significant advantages to using the 248FAB Cam Trigger kit over other trigger kits are :
- NO need to TOUCH THE TIMING BELT!
- NO need to cut or REMOVE the TIMING BELT COVER.
- You can run ANY CAM GEARS
SC300 and gen1 GS300 users will need an Oil Pump with a crankshaft position sensor mounted.
***This Sensor ONLY provides A Camshaft Position Signal to the ECU.***
***This Sensor DOES NOT provide ANY CRANKSHAFT POSITION DATA***
This position sensor is strictly a cam sensor for distributor equipped 1/2jz engines. All 2jz engines can utilize an oem Toyota oil pump with mounted crank sensor but not the same cam sensor. Early engines were distributor engines and they had the cam trigger in the distributor. The sensor would pickup off of a tone ring with 24 teeth. One benefit of our sensor is that we use a single tooth tone ring . This is plenty for a standalone ecu and when your engine is spinning at 8000 rpm, our cam sensor only has to process a low 4000 triggers per minute.(AKA 67hz). The OEM sensor inside the distributor has to process 96,000 triggers per minute (1600hz @8000rpm). Which results in a less reliable cam signal with more noise.

There is a significant cost advantage to using our kit and a NON-VVTI engine, over buying a used GTE OEM turbo engine.
2jz engines came with and without a turbo from the factory. The factory turbocharged 2jz-GTE engines used sell for $5000-$8000. The non-turbocharged non-vvti 2jz-ge engines usually sell for $500-$1200. The 248FAB Cam Trigger puts the consumer one step closer to having their end goal, (a turbocharged 2jz engine) for a fraction of the cost of buying a factory turbocharged engine used.
